MSR-Traffic equips self-serve car wash boxes in Austria with sensor technology.
There were some challenges to overcome in this vehicle detection project. Due to difficult visibility conditions, waiting customers often did not know whether there were free car wash bays at all.
The access road to the wash boxes is a one-way street, which means that you have to line up at the end of the queue if you haven't found a vacant car wash box at the first attempt. "Of course, this often leads to frustration among our customer", says Maximilian Mandl.
MSR-Traffic also succeeded in finding a solution for this special application of vehicle detection.
Specially enclosed ultrasonic sensors record the occupancy status of each individual wash box.
Separate high-performance multicolour LED lights signal the waiting cars in the access road which wash box is free or occupied.
