Environment Protection: MSR-Group GmbH sets out its own beehive

MSR-Group’s climate protection officer implements initial measures.

1000 honey bees (workers) have moved into the meadow on the MSR-Group site in Pocking and are clearly feeling at home. Not much time will pass before the small hive will have raised its queen bee. "By next summer, I expect a colony of up to 50,000 honey bees," says MSR climate protection officer and beekeeper Elisabeth Jodlbauer.

Alongside wild bees, honey bees ensure the safe pollination of wild and cultivated plants and both complement each other. They thus not only secure a large part of our food. Since they are an important part of the ecosystem they above all maintain diversity in nature. At the same time they are an important environmental indicator.

Another step toward climate protection

"As a company, we would like to invest at this point in near-natural and species-appropriate keeping of bees. Therefore, we will make a further contribution to direct climate protection," says Managing Director Harald Schmitt.

Our Climate protection officer and beekeeper Elisabeth Jodlbauer provides MSR with the bee colony and takes care of it. Furthermore, other interested employees are introduced to beekeeping and, if necessary, supported in training to become beekeepers.

Albert Einstein already recognised how important bees are:

“If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left.No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”

(Albert Einstein, 1949)

In addition to this small contribution to climate protection, many other measures will be taken in the future. As a globally operating company we have to stand up for environmental and climate protection.
