MSR-Traffic enables smart parking in Singen and Radolfzell at Lake Constance

KUPPRION Immobilien GmbH is implementing numerous large inner-city commercial and residential building projects in the city centre locations of Singen and Radolfzell. Attractive districts are being created that invite people to shop, stay and live.

Existing underground car parks are being integrated into the construction projects, modernised and equipped with intelligent parking guidance systems from MSR-Traffic:

  • the underground car parks Postarkaden Singen with 158 parking spaces
  • Zentrum Gambrinus in Singen with 98 parking spaces
  • Gerberplatz in Radolfzell with 207 parking spaces

Smart parking thanks to ultrasonic sensors from MSR-Traffic


LED display panels and around 460 ultrasonic sensors (one sensor per parking space) have been installed in the parking garages for intelligent parking guidance.

The ultrasonic sensors from MSR-Traffic incl. coloured status LEDs enable precise counting and single-space detection of vehicles for smart parking.

5 ultra-bright LEDs per colour indicate the status of the parking space:

  • green means available
  • red means occupied

Sensor and LEDs are located in one housing. The single-space and counting sensors are installed under the ceiling in each case.

Compared to conventional measuring techniques MSR-Traffic sensors are robust, very durable and provide precise measurement results at all times.

The turnkey system is individually configured and installed extremely quickly on site.


LED remaining space display


LED displays indicating remaining spaces enable quick route guidance for drivers looking for a parking space. The live data on the parking situation helps motorists make quick directional decisions at any time. The dynamic traffic in the underground car park also results in lower CO2 emissions and at the same time increases the economic efficiency of the parking areas.

The heart of the intelligent parking guidance system - the ParkGard® Controller Center (PGCC) - establishes the connection to the ultrasonic sensors and reproduces the counting information on the corresponding LED displays of the garage levels.

The PGCC is responsible for:

  • controlling the parking guidance system
  • storing historical data
  • compiling statistics
  • visualising ongoing operations
  • communicating with other systems
