MSR-Traffic modernises parking system at shopping centre and installs LED matrix displays.
The LOOP5 shopping centre in the southern Hessian town of Weiterstadt offers its visitors a wide range of leisure activities in addition to numerous shops and restaurants and is an attraction not least because of its iconic design with the glass roof and the many skylight domes. To regulate the parking situation in the shopping centre, MSR-Traffic GmbH installed a parking system with around 2,800 parking sensors on 9 levels back in 2014.
Now, as part of the modernisation and redesign of the shopping centre, the parking system has also been modernised for even better monitoring and visualisation of the parking status and the new controllers and LED matrix displays from MSR-Traffic have been installed.
What changes are being made to the parking system?
The ultrasonic sensors that were already installed were retained, while the level controllers were replaced with new level controllers with better distribution of the sensor strings and loads.
Traffic routing was made even simpler and more straightforward through installation of the new LED matrix displays from MSR-Traffic, which can be fed individually with information. In addition, the new parking software ParkGard® Control Centre (PGCC) was deployed to further improve the efficiency of the car park operations.
The modern and innovative software offers maximum flexibility for car park management as well as extremely user-friendly and intuitive operation.
Solution from MSR-Traffic
24 new level controllers (COMMANDI type) and more than 15 LED matrix displays were installed to optimise and modernise the parking system.
The LED matrix displays for indoor use (IP43), which do not include power supplies, are used to display various texts, numbers and arrows or as information panels, for example, for optimal traffic guidance.
Information is transmitted to the sign via a serial / Ethernet interface. Also the relay version has a 230V input that switches between two permanently stored graphics.
The displays are used, for example, in stadiums, in advertising, in restaurants and at bus stops and railway stations. Due to their amazing visual performance and modular design, they are ideal for both indoor and outdoor use as traffic signs as well as traffic guidance displays, displays indicating how many parking spaces are available and charging station displays (animated display).
- High light output with good visibility even in bright conditions or with light shone directly at display
- Rugged and practical housing
- Energy-saving LED technology
- Support for animations, images, text, clock, temperature etc.
- 230VAC input for state change
The Commandi controller is used for continuously monitoring the occupancy statuses of the parking spaces. The Commandi-X level controller series can monitor up to X (1-4) bus systems with 60 ultrasonic sensors each over the RS-485 bus or optionally over Cat6 and passes its values to the central PC.
Via its sensor bus interface, it performs the cyclical querying and monitoring of the ultrasonic sensors and provides the power supply to the sensors. X (1-4) controller modules can be integrated into each steel plate housing.
The installation and modernisation of the existing system were carried out by MSR-Traffic GmbH and its sister company VOLTA GmbH.
